It has always been surprising to me that when we work on a concept physically, we also enhance that concept in our lives. I recall working in a yoga class focused on twisting and releasing, and really inhabiting (cognitively) the concept of release in the week following.
During our Friday yoga break today, we work with spinal stability and hip mobility. Spinal stability invites in a sense of grounding and rootedness at the very base of our being.
We can use the platform of physical stability to help enhance a sense of stability in a larger sense in our lives. Also, spinal stability is a concept that we can learn succinctly and transfer over to all of our other functional movements. Once we "get it" it is a concept we can use over and over again to our benefit in all of our physical practices.
Necessary props: strap (dog leash/ karate belt), blocks or stable chair.
