Working with HRV (Heart Rate Variability)
We might think of our heart as a metronome, steadily beating at the same pace. But actually our heart rate is capable of being varied- the pace picks up on our inhalation, and slows on our exhalation. This difference is known as heart rate variability (or HRV).
HRV is connected with improved cognitive and physical performance across a broad range of subjects.
Through specific breathing techniques, we can work to nourish our own heart’s variability, and help improve our capacity to both dial up and dial down responses within our autonomic nervous system.
Join us for this full body, hour long asana practice devoted to working with alignment for guiding and progressing HRV within your own physiology.
Please have a blanket or beach towel, a strap or long belt (dog leash works too), and a yoga block to support your practice.
As always take gentle care of your body.
Thank you for joining.
