Individual PT + Exercise
Many people aren't sure what the difference is between exercise and Physical Therapy and why both are important! Exercise is something you should do continuously, and ideally what you do works on things that are important for you (ex: endurance, balance, posture, strength, etc). Individual Physical Therapy should be completed so that you have a chance to do an evaluation and take objective measurements. Then based on your goals and the results of testing, a plan of care is developed by the PT, including specific exercises that are important to work on those things! For my clients who are doing exercise classes consistently, some of the best things to work on in PT, are balance and multi-tasking! Balance can be difficult to practice at home, because to challenge yourself enough to induce positive change, there is an inherent safety risk. In PT, the therapist can help keep you safe! There are many things that a PT can help with, and I hope you exercise consistently and meet with a PT when needed!
