Strength Training is important for all of us!
Today we are back to our strength combinations. Working specific upper body muscles while strengthening the muscles of our lower body. For the upper body additions we will again be using a set of hand weights. Working the combinations of upper and lower really fire up our core, and brains, as our body learns to coordinate these movement.
To be as Parkinson's specific as possible, we want to focus more on functional strengthening than on general weights or machines.
We also want to focus more on strengthening the extensor muscles, than the flexors! We also want to incorporate posture, balance and all the good stuff into all the forms of exercise we do. Instead of you trying to figure all of this out, we designed a class just for you!
Remember, safety first! Modify activities as needed! Use support for anything in standing as needed, use the chair to get up and down from the ground, take your time and skip or modify activities if you need it!
Equipment needed:
-Sturdy Chair
-Yoga Mat!
-Hand Towel
-Light Hand Weights (1-3lbs) or something similar from around the house!
-Water bottle!
-A great attitude
-Hard work ;)
